Travel advice for Greece and Cyprus

Are you travelling to Greece of Cyprus? Discover our travel advice for this destination. The travel advice is for guidance only and is not binding.

1. Travel documents

For Belgians, the Belgian identity card is sufficient for the outward and return flight.

It is important not to lose this card during your stay or to be the victim of theft (pickpockets are very active in tourist attractions and on public transport).

Be extra vigilant during local trips and keep your documents safely stored.

2. Health

COVID-19

Currently there are no specific entry requirements regarding PLF form or Covid Pass.

As infections still occur, it is strongly recommended to wear face masks in the airport and during the flight.

In Greece, face masks are also still mandatory on public transport, boat trips, taxi, pharmacies, hospitals.

In Cyprus, wearing a face mask is mandatory in all closed spaces.

Health insurance:

The care in public hospitals differs from the Belgian standards, it is not uncommon, for example, to bear the costs for a private nurse in addition to basic care.

For more expensive treatment in private hospitals, you must also be covered by private insurance in addition to your health insurance company.

So make sure that you are sufficiently covered for all possible necessary medical care before departure.

3. Safety

Greece is located in an active seismic zone. Earthquakes occur regularly and during the summer months there can also be forest fires in both Gierkenland and Cyprus.
